The Lagos Coroner Court has stated that the most important aspect of an autopsy to determine the cause of the late singer Mohbad’s death is being conducted in the United States of America (USA).
The state counsel O. Akinde on Wednesday told the Coroner Magistrate, Adetayo Shotobi, that the autopsy into the external body of Mohbad had been completed.
Akinde made the disclosure following the concerns by the counsel to Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba, David Fadimu, and a representative of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu. O.S.A. Aranmolaran.
The state counsel said, “The toxicology test, which has to do with the internal body, is being done in the US.”
Mohbad’s father had earlier warned that nobody should take his son’s body for burial without his permission.
Mr Aloba stated this in a video shared on TikTok on Sunday amid growing calls for his son’s body to be released for burial.
“When this boy was alive, he was alive. When he go, he still retained my name. Nobody should go there and take his body, please,” he warned.
Aloba added, “If they want to do anything there, I’ll be the one to authorise them. Nobody should go and carry Mohbad’s body from there.”
Mohbad died aged 27 on September 12 and was buried hurriedly.
The police, however, exhumed his corpse on September 21 for autopsy following calls for investigation.
A coroner’s inquest into his death was also launched by the Lagos State Government.
