Actress Toyin Abraham has addressed accusations of unpaid debt made by a fashion designer who recently called her and fellow actress Annie Idibia out on social media.
The designer took to Instagram on Friday, tagging both stars and accusing them of owing her for over a year.
She wrote, “My patience is running out. 1 year and 2 months. How can you owe someone millions and remain so reluctant?”
In response Toyin Abraham used her Instagram page to clarify the situation, describing it as a misunderstanding. She shared screenshots of a chat and explained the context behind the designer’s claims.
Toyin wrote, “Hello everyone, I want to address the recent allegations regarding an unpaid debt to a fashion designer. The situation has been completely misunderstood, and I’d like to clarify what happened.”
She went on to explain that during the production of her movie Malaika, there was a runway scene requiring designer dresses.
Toyin’s team reached out to several designers, including Tiannah for outfits. Gabriel, a team member also introduced another designer, a friend who provided additional dresses.
“I even bought a hairpiece from her, for which I paid in full. As for the dresses, they were borrowed for the shoot, and once we finished using them, I returned them to Gabriel,” Toyin explained.
She added that after learning about the online accusations, she contacted Gabriel who confirmed that he had informed the designer that the dresses had been returned and subsequently borrowed by someone else, making the situation no longer Toyin’s responsibility.
