Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has denied social media reports that she has replaced fellow actress, Funke Akindele, as ambassador for the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The 35-year-old denied the reports in a statement signed by her and released through her publicist, Samuel Olatunji, on Instagram on Thursday.
It reads, “It has just been brought to my attention that blogs are reporting that I am now NCDC ambassador. Implying that I have been used to replace a colleague… I am not an ambassador to NCDC… Please I support the campaign against COVID-19, I appeared on a video campaign against the pandemic but please let’s not drag another person down. Thank you.”
The NCDC on April 5 clarified that Funke Akindele was not its ambassador.
This came after the Jenifa actress ran foul of public health guidelines by hosting a 43rd birthday party for her husband, JJC Skillz, at their Lekki home on April 4 in violation of the coronavirus lockdown.
The couple was subsequently arrested and tried before a magistrate court.
They plead guilty to the charges and were sentenced to 14 days of community service and were each ordered to pay a fine of N100,00.
