Actress Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi has showered praises on her colleague Ronke Oshodi Oke after the latter promoted her latest film Ijakumo, the Born Again Stripper.
The movie premiered at cinemas in December 2022, but recently began airing on Netflix.
The new release stirred mixed reactions on social media. Some hailed the cast for their performances, while others claimed the movie was flawed for different reasons.
Responding to the negative comments, Toyin claimed that many who were critical of the movie were those opposed to her political choice in the 2023 presidential election.
“You all went to create WhatsApp group because of Ijakumo the Born-Again Stripper, please continue,” she tweeted on Saturday.
“Maybe today I will kuku break the table. You all will tell the world why choosing my own candidate is a crime and yours isn’t. Loni yi mo mura yin wa (today I’m prepared for you).
“You all think you have monopoly to talk sh*t; I’m here today for those people in that WhatsApp group.
“Ijakumo the Born-Again Stripper was accepted in USA and Odeon cinemas and was showing same time Nigerian cinemas were showing it, I might keep mute for other things, but when it comes to my work, I will speak out.”
However, a video that surfaced online captures Toyin’s colleague, Ronke, promoting the movie.
Ronke praised Toyin and the cast for their outstanding performances.
She also urged those who were yet to see the movie to do so.
Reacting to the video on Tuesday via Instagram, Toyin thanked Ronke for promoting her film.
According to her, this is the first time Ronke is commending her film.
She wrote: “Thank you very much Aunty Ronke mi atata. This is the first time you are actually commending my film.”
