Actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has vowed to stop her frequent giveaway following recent backlash over her support for President Bola Tinubu.
Although the actress has been facing criticism since she openly declared her support for the former Governor of Lagos State, the backlash started again after several Nigeria stormed social media to lament the economic hardship.
Due to the criticism of Toyin’s choice, an X user asked her to stop distributing money to her followers as most of them troll her with burner accounts while another X user suggested that Toyin’s gesture is her way of doing “damage control”.
“Do you know what “damage control”, is? That’s what she’s doing. Isn’t it frightening how Nigerians easily forget? She loudly and shamelessly endorsed tinubu and all shes doing now is just to save face from draggings. This is why our leaders trample upon us. We just forget easily,” the X user named OluomachiIro wrote.
“I won’t do giveaway again. Thank You,” Toyin responded.
In another post, she confirmed her earlier statement writing, “I won’t again, this is no more complain but bullying to me please, years ago when I supported Jonathan and everyone supported buhari I was abused and bullied but after the whole thing I never came out to accuse anyone or blame anyone. What is all this about cos of my choice of candidate, I get bullied every day and still kept mute over it. I get cursed out every time over what.”
