President and group chief executive of Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group) Owen Omogiafo has joined the world in celebrating businessman, economist and philanthropist Tony Elumelu on his 60th birthday.
Mrs Omogiafo described Mr Elumelu in her Instagram post as the strongest women’s advocate and a great man.
She said, “Today I join the world to celebrate an icon, a mentor, a friend, an equal opportunity champion, the strongest He for She ever, a role model, an all-round great man, Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, CFR on his 60th birthday.
“TOE, you are one in a million, and words cannot express how much you mean to all of us. We love you and we pray that God’s blessings will forever remain you. Happy birthday dearest TOE!!!!”
Elumelu chairs Transcorp, one of Nigeria’s largest conglomerates whose subsidiaries include Transcorp Power, one of the leading producers of electricity in Nigeria and Transcorp Hotels Plc, a top hospitality brand.
He also sits on a number of public and social sector boards, including the World Economic Forum Community of Chairmen and the Global Leadership Council of UNICEF’s Generation Unlimited.
In 2022, TIME again recognised him with its inaugural TIME100 Impact list, honouring him alongside six global leaders who have gone over and beyond to move their industries and the world forward.
