Kaduna State High Court has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to transfer the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, and his wife, Zinat, to the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kaduna State, to make him accessible to his lawyer.
Justice Gideon Kurada gave the order on Thursday following an application by the IMN counsel, Haruna Magashi, at the resumed hearing of the main suit.
The order comes eight months after the last hearing in April.
El-Zakzaky and wife are standing trial over allegations of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of the public peace, among other charges, in another court.
El-Zakzaky is believed to be held at the secret police’s facility in Abuja.
Justice Kurada had on April 25 adjourned the trial of the IMN leader indefinitely to enable him to serve on the panel of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Yobe.
