Kelechi Iheanacho’s dream move to West Ham United may eventually not see the light of the day following the club’s latest interest in Arsenal forward, Olivier Giroud.
Iheanacho, 20, was believed to be the Hammers’ primary target after being deemed surplus to requirement at Manchester City.
The youngster, who featured for the Super Eagles in the 2-0 defeat to South Africa on Saturday, prior to the encounter, was given permission to return to England to finalise his move to the Olympic Stadium.
However, in a latest twist of events, it appears the London-based club has now turned their attention to Giroud, instead, who like Iheanacho, is desperate for an exit from his club.
The Frenchman will cost Slaven Bilic’s team around £20m, which is almost the same fee City want for the Nigerian.
Giroud and Iheanacho had bit-part seasons for Arsenal and City respectively.
While the Frenchman started just 11 Premier League games scoring 12 times, his Nigerian counterpart was fielded from start seven time less, with five goals.
It is still unclear what the future holds for the 20-year-old who was Pep Guardiola’s third choice striker behind Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero.
