Travellers stranded at Lagos, Abuja airports as labour grounds flights

Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos

Travellers have been left stranded after labour unions shut down all entry points of aviation agencies at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday.

Labour leaders are asking the government to agree to N497,000 as minimum wage while the government and private sector are proposing N60,000, saying labour’s demand is unsustainable.

At the Lagos airport, police and medical staff were stationed at strategic points as labour officials play songs from the late Afrobeat star Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
