The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has granted the motion filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his party, to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release election materials for inspection.
The PDP and Atiku had filed the motion on Tuesday.
Ruling on the motion on Wednesday, Justice Abdul Aboki, who led a three-man panel of the tribunal, granted them permission to inspect the materials and obtain certified true copies (CTC) of the materials.
Aboki, however, disallowed the request for experts to engage in forensic analysis and scanning of INEC materials, saying it was outside the scope of the meaning of inspection under Section 151(1) & (2) of the Electoral Act (as amended).
