Tricycle rider bags 2 months imprisonment for obstructing traffic

A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced a 23-year-old tricycle rider, Ibrahim Mohammed, to two months imprisonment for obstructing traffic.

Mohammed of Utako village, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to the one count charge of obstructing traffic, levelled against him.

The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5, 000 fine.

Sadiq warned Mohammed to desist from committing a crime and to be a good citizen.

The prosecutor, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one David Icha, attached to Life Camp Police Station, reported the incident on January 23.

Zannah said the incident occurred along Obafemi Awolowo Way by Life Camp Junction on the same date.

Zannah explained that the convict willfully drove his tricycle without plate number, and hindered the free flow of traffic.

He said that during police investigation and interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence, which contravened Sections 63 (3) of the Road Traffic Regulations, of Nigeria.
