Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State Osagie Ize-Iyamu has corroborated a statement made by the media team of a former Edo governor Adams Oshiomhole, saying the accident involving the ex-governor’s convoy was deliberate.
Two policemen were killed while two are hospitalised after a truck rammed into Mr Oshiomhole’s convoy on Tuesday on his way to Usen for a rally.
Mr Ize-Iyamu tweeted saying eyewitnesses believe the truck deliberately hit the convoy.
“The circumstances of the crash were indeed curious and have left us deeply concerned, as the truck responsible for the crash, according to witness accounts of those in the convoy and other road users, appeared to have deliberately rammed into the convoy in what could reasonably be interpreted to mean an attempt on the life of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,” he stated.
“While awaiting the conclusion of the investigation of the Police in response to our petition, I urge our party followers across the State to remain calm and alert. May God rest the dead and grant the injured a quick and full recovery, amen.”
The governorship candidate also expressed his “deepest sympathies to families, friends, and all who knew the two exceptional Policemen”.
