Tunji Disu on Wednesday assumed office as the commissioner of police (CP) in Rivers State.
This comes days after his appointment was announced on November 9.
Disu’s deployment to the south-south state by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun saw the state’s police commissioner Nwonyi Emeka moved to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
Disu was welcomed with a performance by a guard of honour led by a policewoman. The new Rivers police commissioner observed the guard.

Before now, Disu was the deputy commissioner of police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and previously served at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for Rivers Command as the deputy head of the unit.
He was head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and a former commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos State.
