Nigerian youngster, Alex Iwobi, continued from where he left off against Barcelona at Nou Camp with another class act as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 to return to winning ways in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.
After exiting the FA Cup and Champions League within the space of four days, Danny Welbeck and 19-year-old Iwobi, with his first for the club, scored in the opening 45 minutes at Goodison Park to ensure the Gunners still retain some interest in the pursuit of Premier League leaders Leicester.
Full-back Hector Bellerin launched a pass down the right channel to completely expose Everton’s Funes Mori in a two-on-one situation and while Iwobi may not yet possess all the skills of his mercurial uncle Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, he displayed a similar coolness in the final third, ignoring Mesut Ozil on his own in the middle to confidently slot past Joel Robles.
Iwobi who completed 28 passes, created one chance and had three shots on target said about his first league goal: “Yeah, it’s not bad. I enjoyed the moment. I’m happy that the team won, that’s the positive, that’s what we’re going to take into the next game.”
Fans immediately took to social media to voice their feelings about the youngster’s performance in his full debut for the Gunners.
Interestingly, Alex Iwobi’s uncle is Jay Jay Okocha. And his great grandfather is Nwankwo Kanu

Iwobi earns c.£850 per week. Walcott is on c.£130,000 per week. One is starting, scoring and looking hungry. The other is sat on the bench.

After his touch and finish, Twitter has awarded Iwobi the official title of best young player in the universe.

To all the folks who laid into @SundayOOliseh for calling up Iwobi ‘because he’s Okocha’s nephew’, how’re you enjoying that humble pie?

Really great to see Iwobi grabbing his first senior goal, and most importantly Arsenal back to their winning ways!

Let that sink in. Iwobi who had his first Premier League start today has more goals in the league than POTY 2015. https://t.co/tHoetBYPZP

If he’d chosen England Iwobi would probably have been in the squad for the Euros tbh.
