Pop singer and songwriter, Banky W, on Tuesday hit back at some women who insulted him for driving an “old” sports utility vehicle.
The 37-year-old was reacting to a viral video shot by the women who stalked him at a grocery store and troll him that the vehicle he was driving was not befitting of him and his wife, Adesua Etomi.
Writing on his blog on Tuesday, the ‘Made for You’ singer described the stalkers’ action as “cringe-worthy, creepy video.”
He revealed that the vehicle was in fact not a 1999 model as claimed by the stalkers, but a 2008 model and it was currently on sale to the highest bidder.
He noted that he still drives the SUV due to the need to own a nice home before a newer car.
His followers have taken to Twitter to share their reactions on the article, with some quoting him and singing his praises for a well-written piece.
Others questioned why he responded saying that he gave in to social media pressure.
Below are some of their tweets.
“You look down on people because of what YOU THINK they can or can’t afford. You clearly believe that a man’s worth should be measured by the car he chooses to drive… but I think differently.” – @BankyW.
This piece by Banky is epic. Read and learn. https://t.co/U8Cheanr2e pic.twitter.com/iEGyhHinsh

Banky W is a G to be honest…..gave those girls a well articulated response they didn’t deserve but needed to hear. Drove traffic to his website, created awareness for his project and gave them life lessons they will need to improve their lives.

Banky W responded to that video ridiculing his car?
😂😂😂
Why do these people feel a need to live up to people’s expectations?
Why do these celebs feel a need to look a certain way?
Like, if you have to floss & want to, go ahead. If you dont want to, chill. Stop explaining

Jokes apart, Banky’s reply had no teachable moments biko. Old Car is up for auction and wife ordered a new ride yen yen yen . He sounded pressed. Social media already fought your battle but you had to mess it up.

I kuku said it …maybe Banky W arranged the whole thing in the 1st place in order to draw people’s awareness to that car in other to sell it to highest bidder ..Look at that long, well prepared, articulate reply coming from him ..Banky is an artist ..He can pull anything off 🤔

Why did Banky feel he owes anyone an explanation for driving his own car? This shalaye is totally unnecessary.

Lmfaooooooo banky W Don fuck up 😂😂😂

Banky W was obviously pained about that car insult because I don’t see why he should be explaining his life history and how himself and his wife had already placed order for 2 brand new cars. You are using a 2008 range. Own up no body will beat you.

Banky’s piece is actually an important one. I mean, if someone as big as him; a label boss; ‘made’ Africa’s biggest act; acted in Nigeria’s best selling movie, etc., has only just built his own house, then we can infer that our celebs are not as rich as we think.

I think Banky W’s reply was unnecessary.

I read Banky’s response to the stalker who cussed him out about his car. Interesting stuff.
Plot twist.
What if Banky set up the stalking stunt as a way of really publicizing the auction of the car? #JustSaying

The way some people think and act is beyond ridiculous. This one saw Banky W and decided to drag him for using what she feels is a dead car. Meanwhile check her net worth and Banky’s they will never be mates. Nigerians!!! Na wa!!! Sooo irritating! pic.twitter.com/mv4BdfyOQm

Those ladies should take it easy with life. I remember my excitement when I ran into you at the #Africanshrine and you gladly obliged to take a selfie. You are one of the most down to earth celebrities I’ve met. Keep winning Banky! pic.twitter.com/ySH1ZmN4h9
