Nigeria U23 team survived a second half massive onslaught to draw 2-2 with Egypt on Wednesday evening in Mbour, Senegal in their second game at the CAF U23 AFCON.

The Dream Team VI for the second successive game failed to defend their first half lead after conceding twice in the second 45 minute against Mali on Sunday.

Coach Samson Siasia made one change to the team that defeated the junior Eagles 3-2 – with Chizoba Amaefule coming in for Kano Pillars defender, Zaharadeen Bello.

Warri Wolves midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, scored twice from the spot in the 10th and 20th minutes to give the Olympic Eagles a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Two quick strikes in the first five minute of the second half from Ahmed Ramadan Sobhy and Karim ElSayed saw the Pharaohs draw level at 2-2.

The Egyptians showed more willpower and determination in the latter stages of the game but could only settle for their second draw at the tournament.

In the other group game, Algeria defeated Mali 2-0 to bring an abrupt end to the West Africans campaign.

The Desert Foxes currently top Group B on four points, same as Nigeria, who has an inferior goal difference, while Egypt and Mali are on two and zero point respectively.

Nigeria faces Algeria in the final group game while Egypt will lock horns with the already eliminated Malians.
