Reno Omokri, former media aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has praised President Bola Tinubu for sacking the minister of women affairs and social development Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye.

Tinubu on Wednesday announced the dismissal of six ministers in his first cabinet reshuffle since he was sworn into power on May 29, 2023.

The ministers dismissed are Kennedy-Ohanenye, Lola Ade-John, Prof. Tahir Mamman, Abdullahi Gwarzo, Jamila Ibrahim and Betta Edu.

Ade-John was minister of tourism and Mamman was minister of education.

Others are Gwarzo, the minister of state, housing and urban development, and Ibrahim who was minister of youth development.

Edu was earlier suspended from her role as the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction over alleged misappropriation of funds. She has now been replaced.

Mr Omokri said on social media that Kennedy-Ohanenye’s temperament made her unsuitable for the role.

“The sacking of Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, the Minister of Women Affairs of Nigeria, is a praiseworthy move by the President. This woman is more suited for the World Wrestling Federation than for a role in government,” he wrote.

“Constantly engaging in petty squabbles and disrupting events and occasions. And her meddlesomeness in cultures she does not understand, like the marriage of 100 orphaned girls in Niger State, which was consensual and did not involve underaged girls, was a major setback for the popularity of the administration in the North.

“I commend the President for showing her the door. He needs a person whose temperament is calm, with a more contemplative attitude, such that they think long term and begin with the end in mind before speaking and acting.

“Additionally, the coming on board of Ambassador Bianca Onoh is a significant plus for the administration. This is a woman I know personally, and can vouch that she has the character and breeding to bring class and polish to the Federal Executive Council.”
