President of 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, has lost his mother.
Muhammad-Bande is Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
He announced his mother’s passage on Twitter on Wednesday night, saying she died earlier in the day.
Although, the UNGA head did not give further details on her death, he thanked all for their ‘prayers’ and ‘word of comfort’.
“I am grateful to all for the condolences on the passing of my mother this morning. Thank you for your prayers and word of comfort,” he wrote.
Muhammad-Bande was elected by the UN General Assembly as president of the 74th session on June 4, 2019.
