Students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) have begun protesting the killing of a medical doctor said to be working with Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Stephen Urueye.
The young doctor was said to have graduated from UNILAG on Wednesday.
Reports say the house doctor was on Thursday night accosted by armed robbers along Idi Araba road, Surulere where LUTH is situated. His assailants reportedly stabbed him and made away with his property.
Sources close to Urueye said on Friday that he was taken to LUTH on Thursday night after the attack.
Urueye died on Friday morning after doctors were unable to save him.
The protesters can be seen with placards having various inscriptions and calling for justice for the victim.
They also want to bring the management’s attention to what they describe as frequent robberies around LUTH.
The police in Lagos have not made an official statement on the matter.
