Large crowds have gathered at the office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday to get their National Identification Number (NIN).
The surge follows a directive by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in 2019 that the NIN would be part of criteria to register for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
The new directive has been criticised as another stressful process youths would be subjected to in order to write exams into higher institutions of learning.
Nigerians have begun talking about the process on Twitter.
