Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has condoled the management and staff of the New Telegraph newspaper on the death of her Saturday editor, Waheed Bakare.
Mr Bakare died on Sunday after a brief illness, aged 51.
Uzodimma described Bakare’s death as painful, saying he died when his services were needed most.
He said the late editor’s death was a loss, not just to the media community but a collective loss.
The governor added that though death is inevitable, that of Bakare reminds us again that the death of one person diminishes us all as mankind.
He prayed God to grant Bakare’s soul a peaceful repose and to comfort the family, particularly the widow, children, aged mother and other family members that he left behind.
