Louis van Gaal has backtracked on his decision to retire and instead is planning on just taking a sabbatical.
The ex-Manchester United coach announced his retirement from football on Monday citing “family reasons”.
However, in a shocking twist of event, the 65-year-old has seemingly changed his mind overnight and decided to take a sabbatical instead.
He told El Larguero: “I have not retired. I’ve only taken a sabbatical year and then I’ll decide. It depends on the offers.”
Van Gaal revealed that he had an offer from La Liga side Valencia to take charge but he has opted to wait.
“Valencia called me about a month ago to ask if I wanted to be their new manager,” he added.
Van Gaal won seven national titles with Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and AZ before being appointed Manchester United boss in May 2014.
He guided the Red Devils to the FA Cup, as well as a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, before being replaced by Jose Mourinho.
