Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani, has lamented the exclusion of Kenyan artistes from The Lion King companion album curated by global icon, Beyoncé.
Nigerian musicians, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Tekno are some of the African singers unveiled on Tuesday to feature on the album which is titled ‘The Lion King: The Gift’.
Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has also been featured on the album.
Beyoncé was involved in the remake of “The Lion King” where she voiced adult Nala, the partner of Simba in the iconic flick.
Kimani, 33, in a tweet, lamented the exclusion of Kenyan stars in the album which has generated world attention.
“As much as we celebrate with our fellow Africans …. The obvious exclusion of Kenyans / East Africans on this Soundtrack is Depressing…. The movie was based on KENYA,” she said.
The Lion King, Disney’s latest remake of its animated classics brings the animals of the 1994 film to new life with CG animation.
In addition to Beyoncé, Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver star in the movie.
