Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has summoned its officials who were recorded breaking traffic law, according to the spokesman of the police in Lagos Benjamin Hundeyin.
Hundeyin stated this on Saturday following a viral video uploaded to Twitter by a man named Adedapo.
The tweep said in the video that three LASTMA officials in the vehicle drove ‘one-way’.
This is coming days after the state auctioned vehicles abandoned and seized in the process of enforcing the state’s traffic laws.
The auction took place at the Task Force Yard, Ikeja. Several persons whose vehicles were seized were there and lost control of their emotions.
Reacting to the viral video on Twitter, Hundeyin tweeted, “Citizen arrest + invective = good job; Police arrest + invective = harassment, unprofessionalism. Double standards, I guess. While we commence investigation into this, please call out @followlastma.”
Giving an update on the situation, Hundeyin added, “I have contacted LASTMA authorities and the head of the Police unit with LASTMA.
“I can confirm that internal investigation has begun. This will not be swept under the carpet. We appreciate citizen reportage.
“I just got confirmation that the entire team has been identified and summoned to @followlastma headquarters. Updates will follow.”
