A video of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and his predecessor Senator Kashim Shettima paying a visit to the deputy commissioner of police Abba Kyari has gone viral on social media.
It was not immediately clear if the visit happened recently.
Mr Kyari is currently on suspension from the Nigeria Police Force following his indictment in a case of fraud.
A document issued by the United States District Court for the Central District of California and dated February 12, 2021 had revealed how fraud suspect Abass Ramon aka Hushpuppi paid N8m ($20,600) to Kyari to arrest and detain an alleged co-conspirator Chibuzo Kelly Vincent.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation alleged in the document that Hushpuppi contracted the services of Kyari after Chibuzo allegedly threatened to expose an alleged $1.1m fraud committed against a Qatari businessman.
Kyari, an indigene of Borno, has been in the public eye since the allegation was made.
Media mogul Dele Momodu also shared a video on Wednesday to Instagram of Mr Zulum and his predecessor’s visit. The men were seen in the video exchanging pleasantries in Hausa.
Meanwhile, Kyari on Tuesday appeared before the special investigation panel investigating the allegations against him. The panel is headed by the deputy inspector-general of police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, Joseph Egbunike.
