President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Aliyu Musa, as his chief personal security officer.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, stated this in a statement on Monday.
He said Musa’s appointment follows the redeployment of his predecessor, Commissioner of Police, Abdulkarim Dauda.
“DCP Musa, from Nigerian Police Force Zone 5, Benin City, as his last station, hails from Niger State,” the statement read.
The appointment follows investigation which President Buhari ordered into the recent shooting at the Presidential Villa.
Shots were fired at the villa over an attempt to make a personal assistant to the president, Sabiu Yusuf, to self-isolate after a visit to Lagos, the epicenter of COVID-19.
First Lady Aisha Buhari and some of her security aides had tried to compel Mr Yusuf to self-isolate. Some of her aides were, however, arrested but released later.
