Juju musicians Wale Thompson, Dele Taiwo and Tunde Samson have mourned their senior colleague Dayo Kujore who died on Monday after a brief illness.
The three musicians expressed their sadness in messages posted on Facebook.
“The Nigeria music industry has lost yet another icon.
“A man who through his voice and gift was dedicated to making people happy.
And while at it didn’t forget to inspire and teach life lessons.
“This is really sad and shocking. You left without saying goodbye, but then, we can’t challenge God.
“May your gentle soul rest in peace WONDER,” Wale Thompson wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon.
“Wonder Dayo Kujore has gone. What a painful loss. We all love him but God loves him most.
“May your gentle soul RIP Papa,” Dele Taiwo wrote on Monday.
“Good Night Baba Wonder. May your soul rest in peace Kujore,” Tunde Samson also wrote on Monday.
Aged 69, Kujore died at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
He is credited with creating a new tune called Soko in the juju music genre.
His albums include Elevation, Wisdom, Joy, Easy Life and the hugely popular Soko Extra.
