Sadiya Wamakko, daughter of a former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, on Thursday died at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
Sadiya, 23, lost her life following complications arising from childbirth.
She was buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday night at Wamakko’s residence in Sokoto.
Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Juma’at Mosque, Sokoto, Liman Akwara led the funeral prayer.
In attendance were Wamakko, a former deputy governor and national commissioner of the National Population Commission, Chiso Dattijo; and a former deputy governor and executive secretary, Police Trust Fund, Ahmed Sokoto.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral were Magajin Garin Sokoto and Magajin Rafin Sokoto, Hassan Danbaba and Rilwanu Bello respectively.
Wamakko is currently the chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and deputy chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption.
He had lost his younger brother Buba Wamakko at age 66 in April.
