Forgotten Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, has made a passionate plea to head coach, Gernot Rohr, ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Ideye last featured for his country since the 2-1 victory over Zambia in the qualifying series.
The 29-year-old’s quest to play in Russia triggered his switch from the Chinese Super League (CSL) to Malaga in January.
And ever since, Ideye has displayed exceptional traits in attack, with one goal thus far.
The ex-West Brom star is hoping his revival will spark a return to the national fold.
“I am very hopeful of a call-up back to the Super Eagles,” the forward told AOIFootball on Wednesday.
“It is what I have been longing for and I have been out for too long and I think my return to active football, especially in a tough league like the LaLiga will help spur my chances to come back.”
Ideye will have the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo to contend with for a spot in Rohr’s team.
Should the Franco-German ultimately pick the striker, it will be his third appearance at the Mundial.
