Watford have completed the signing of Nigerian youngster, Isaac Success, from Granada for a club record fee in the region of £12.5m, just as they rejected a huge offer for Odion Ighalo.
Success, 20, represented Nigeria twice at junior levels – first at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013, then the U20’s two years later.
The former BJ Foundation prodigy, who is yet to be capped at international level, agreed a five-year contract with the Hornets.
Success joined Udinese in 2013 and moved to Granada a year later but was immediately sent to the reserve team.
It took the powerful forward just few months to break into the senior squad and became a hit the next – scoring six goals in 40 appearances for the Pozzo Family club.
The striker follows the footstep of compatriot, Ighalo, who moved to Vicarage Road via same route.
Ighalo himself was subject of a mammoth £37.5m offer made by Sven-Goran Eriksson’s Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG.
Watford swiftly turned down the offer and are bracing themselves towards pairing the two Nigerians next season.
Success confirmed his departure from the Spanish La Liga by writing a heartfelt letter to Granada.
“Today is a bittersweet day for me, because through this letter, I want to say goodbye to the best hobby that you can have, to my colleagues, all the workers in the club who have both supported me since I arrived in Granada, in addition to this city that has given me everything,” he wrote.
