Former England international, Wayne Rooney, was arrested in Washington, US, in December 2018 for public intoxication and swearing.
The 33-year-old former Manchester United player committed the offence on December 16.
Rooney, who now plays for DC United based in Washington DC, was arrested at the Washington-Dulles Airport in Virginia on his way to an event in Saudi Arabia.
Court records indicate that the former England national team captain paid a $25 fine for the offence and was subsequently released.
This is not the first time Rooney is running afoul of the law.
In September 2017, while playing in England, he was arrested by Cheshire police for driving over speed limit.
Rooney pleaded guilty to drink-driving charges later that month at Stockport Magistrates’ Court.
He was fined £170, banned from driving for two years and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Rooney’s club, DC United, released a short statement promising to look into the matter and deal with it appropriately.
