Vice President Yemi Osinbajo showed his street credibility on Tuesday when he declared that Nigerians, especially the youths, deserve some accolades for their innovation and determination to succeed.
“Accolades” became a buzzword in Nigeria after the release of a video by rapper and actor, Charles Okocha aka Igwe 2pac.
Speaking at The Platform organised by the Covenant Christian Center in Lagos, the law professor said young Nigerians have remained focused despite many challenges, thereby increasing the nation’s national pride and confidence.
The 61-year-old also called for the support of the people to build a successful nation
“I believe the solution is building back Nigerian bridge. The bridge will not be one that is built of steel or bricks; this bridge will be built with the wisdom of the elderly and the strength of the youths. All of us deserve some accolades,” he said.
Osinbajo reeled acknowledged some entertainers for their contribution to Nollywood, stand-up comedy and other aspects of showbiz
“Think how much bliss the music videos of Clarence Peters and the bestselling comedies of Ayo Makun, Basketmouth, Akpororo, Chigul, Falz D Bahd Guy, Funke Akindele, Jenifa and the talented singer-comedian Kenny Black have brought to audiences home and abroad,” he said.
Osinbajo added that it is the role of the government to create an enabling environment for young Nigerians to thrive in and build a nation that excels.
