Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said operatives of the South West Security Network, Amotekun, will be deployed if the Nigeria Police Force fails to provide security for the Osun State local government election scheduled for Saturday (today).
His statement came shortly after Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, advised the Osun State Government to suspend the election.
Adejobi, in a statement on Friday, cited intelligence reports suggesting possible violence and the need to respect court orders.
The state government, however, dismissed the police advisory, insisting that only court rulings matter in the electoral process.
Davido, who hails from Osun and is a nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, reacted on X, saying, “We go use Amotekun.”
