The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that Doyin Okupe, an ex-spokesperson of former President Goodluck Jonathan was released “on administrative bail.”
The commission’s acting spokesperson Tony Orilade said on Thursday.
Mr Orilade added that the charges against Mr Okupe were related to fraud as against cybercrime which Okupe was told when EFCC operatives visited his apartment on Saturday December 8.
“He will be given a week to be reporting to the EFCC,” Orilade said, adding that the context of the charges would not be discussed until they are filed in court and the matter assigned to a judge.
Okupe was released on Wednesday after detention since Monday.
The former presidential aide in a Twitter message wrote that he was treated with ‘utmost courtesy’ by EFCC operatives.
”The Efcc released me on bail tonite within 48hrs as stipulated by law. I was treated with utmost courtesy. I feel proud & grateful,” Okupe had written.
