An American woman, Jeanine Delsky, and her Kano lover, Isa Sulaiman, have postponed their wedding initially scheduled for March.
Ms Delsky, 46, who lives in California, USA, met Mr Sulaiman, 23, on Instagram in 2019, exchanged pictures and began courting online.
In January, she visited Panshekara, a suburb in Kano State, where Sulaiman lives with his family.
The wedding has been shifted due to the United States’ visa restrictions on Nigerians.
Delsky, a mother of two, is said to be considering other lawful alternatives for the relocation of Sulaiman to the US after their wedding in Kano.
Isa’s father, a retired superintendent of police, told Daily Trust: “The wedding will not hold in March as earlier planned because of the new policy of United States government on visa ban for Nigerians.
“However, the American woman is doing her best to explore other available opportunities to secure him papers as an American citizen. Once that is done we shall fix a new date for the wedding.”
Isa, a 200 level student of Geography Education at Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, had since declared interest to move to the US to conclude his studies and also build a family with his American lover.
The groom-to-be’s father had contacted the Department of State Services (DSS) to liaise with US authorities to conduct in-depth investigation on Delsky.
