Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has sent a congratulatory message to Nigerians after the country qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
One of Wenger’s faithful stewards, Alex Iwobi, grabbed the winner against Zambia to send the Super Eagles to their sixth Mundial.
And Wenger, who is French, couldn’t be happier to see his lad put smiles on the faces of millions in his homeland.
“Good morning. Congratulations to all our fans in Nigeria. I know that there are very, very, very many of you and we are very proud that you have qualified for the World Cup,” said Wenger in a video posted by Arsenal on their Facebook page.
“On top of that, our player scored the goal for you and that makes us even prouder.
“Well done, and see you in the World Cup. I am sure you will have a great, great trip there.”
Iwobi was on target for the Gunners in the 2-0 victory over Brighton prior to the international break.
As the reigning FA Cup champions prepare to face Watford this weekend, Wenger will definitely be banking on the Nigerian once again.
