We’re not paupers, Force PRO clashes with netizens asking how IGP’s secretary can afford expensive Samsung phone, luxury watch

Olumuyiwa Adejobi Nigeria Police Force PRO

Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said that police officers are not paupers who cannot afford expensive phones.

Mr Adejobi stated this on Saturday via X in response to the dust raised by a photograph he posted earlier.

On Friday, the Force PRO posted a picture of David Victoria, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and secretary to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), who appears to be holding a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and a diamond-branded watch around her wrist.

“We have beautiful and intelligent ones in the force. This is DSP David Victoria, secretary to the IGP. Happy weekend. Ire o,” Adejobi wrote.

His post got several persons wondering how she could afford a cellphone worth nearly N1 million.

One X user wrote, “Her cellphone, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, is worth over a million naira. I don’t wanna talk about her wristwatch, which is also not cheap. Where did she get the money from, and how much is her monthly salary that she was able to afford all that?”

In response, Adejobi said police officers are not paupers, while he asked the X user to withdraw his statement.

“Police officers are not paupers. Withdraw your statement. It’s ridiculous to us to say a DSP can’t use Samsung fold 2…. you need to reason straight and be objective. Do you know what it is to be a DSP?” Adejobi said.
