West Brom have appointed former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss, Alan Pardew, as their new manager on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The 56-year-old, who has been out of work since being sacked by the Eagles in December 2016, replaces Tony Pulis in the Hawthorns hot seat.
Welshman Pulis was dismissed on November 20 with the Baggies one point above the relegation zone after a run of 10 Premier League games without a victory.
John Carver, who was Pardew’s assistant manager at Newcastle, has joined the backroom staff at The Hawthorns.
“I’m thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players,” he told the club’s official website.
“The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table.
“But I’m aware that while I’m joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League.”
Pardew’s first game in charge will be against his former club Palace at the Hawthorns on Saturday, with trips to Liverpool and Swansea to follow.
The Baggies have also confirmed that Gary Megson, who was caretaker manager for the last two matches against Tottenham and Newcastle, has left the club.
“Gary leaves with our gratitude for a sterling job completed in difficult circumstances,” chairman John Williams said.
“We met today when I explained our position which he understood and accepted in the highly professional manner with which he has conducted himself since Tony’s departure.”
