General Manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Adeshina Tiamiyu, on Thursday morning confirmed that all victims trapped in the rubbles of the collapsed building on Lagos Island have been rescued.
The building, located at No. 63 Massey Street, Ita-Faaji area of Lagos Island, collapsed on Wednesday around 10 a.m.
Mr Tiamiyu told journalists at the site of the incident on Thursday morning that the last body of a male was recovered at 3 a.m.
“We stopped work at 3: 00 a.m after recovering the lifeless body of a male and we are sure there is no casualty left under the debris.
“I have seen the picture of the building before it collapsed and I can confirm to you that the floor that housed the school cannot accommodate up to 100 pupils.
“Only the school administrator can tell us the number of pupils in the school, but the proprietor is also at the hospital receiving treatment and we can’t confirm that now,” he said.
Unable to give the total number of casualty, Tiamiyu said the ministry of health would give an accurate figure later in the day.
