Filmone Limited recently announced the appointment of Ladun Awobokun as chief content officer.
In February 2023, Awobokun was elevated from her position as head of distribution for FilmOne Entertainment to general manager.
Awobokun has built a career in filmmaking spanning over a decade despite having a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Babcock University.
She has a master’s degree in information systems and business analysis from Aston University, UK.
In 2022, she served as the editor-in-chief of the Nigerian Box Office Yearbook, the official handbook for Box Office facts in Nigeria.
In her previous role as head of distribution for FilmOne Entertainment, Awobokun was instrumental in several successful distribution campaigns, including helping Wakanda Forever achieve the highest box office record in West Africa.
As general manager, she played a pivotal role in securing exclusive distribution rights in Anglophone West Africa for major Hollywood studios, including Sony Pictures and Walt Disney.
Under her leadership, FilmOne has distributed 90 per cent of the top-grossing Nollywood films, including the groundbreaking A Tribe Called Judah, the first Nollywood film to surpass N1 billion at the box office, Wakanda Forever, Ajosepo and King of Thieves among others.
As chief content officer, she will oversee the creative direction and content strategy of FilmOne Limited.
Utilising her deep passion for storytelling and media production, she will be responsible for driving the development of high-quality, engaging content that resonates with audiences both locally and globally.
Speaking on her new role, she said, “I am honoured to take on this new challenge and continue working with the incredible team at FilmOne.”
“Together, we will push the boundaries of storytelling and create content that not only entertains but also inspires and connects with audiences around the world,” she added.
