Why Femi Falana shouldn’t be connected to alleged N100m bribe – Rinu Oduala

One of the coordinators of the #EndSARS protests Rinu Oduala has waded into the allegation that lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and some coordinators of the protests collected N100 million bribe from the Lagos State Government.

The #EndSARS protests took place in 2020 in several parts of the country. On October 20, 2020, protesters clashed with security forces at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.

On Sunday, one social media influencer Banke Oniru claimed on X that Mr Falana advised #EndSARS coordinators including Serah Ibrahim that the N100 million offered should be collected.

Oniru criticised Mr Falana, saying he was not a ‘saint’.

“Falana is a constant betrayal of our ideals. Remember he almost frustrated the tribunal,” she claimed.

Her allegation came in the wake of claims made by social media influencer VeryDarkMan that Falana and his son Falz tried to buy presidential pardon for crossdresser Bobrisky when the latter was jailed earlier this year for six months over abuse of the naira.

Reacting to comments by Oniru among others, Oduala wrote on X on Monday: “Femi Falana SAN has been representing protesters and poor Nigerians for free for decades.

“Attaching his name to a 100m bribe offered by Sanwo-Olu and Lagos state government in secret to shot and dead protesters to shush them up is the lowest APC can go.

“APC denied people ever died during the protests. They went behind to offer the shot and dead money. They are coming out today to say the wounded people collected money to discredit and trying to use the SAN name to trend that because he supported #EndSARS.

“The APC government never recovered from the protests and will use every medium to tarnish it. If not, check all APC troll accounts right now. Their agenda is the protests. Are we even connecting the dots? Not sure.”
