Galala singer, Daddy Showkey, says he decided not to ever cut his hair after meeting a woman he called Sister P in Italy in 2000.
The singer revealed this in a post on Tuesday on Instagram.
According to him, the woman made him realise how proud he should be as an African and a Nigerian.
“She is Sister P, the person that changed my life and my way of thinking. I met Sister P, in Rototom Sunsplash in Italy in the year 2000, she made me realize who I am, an African; and I should be proud of who I am, a Nigerian. From that day I decided that I will not cut my hair. I have been looking for how to link her up until I saw this post on @rastafaritv an interview of the Great Sister P, her consciousness is second to none. Respect Sister P,” he said.
Last December, Showkey let loose his dreadlocks to the bewilderment of fans.
Faced down, the singer’s hair goes beyond his knees.
Born John Asiemo, Daddy Showkey likes to classify his genre of music as ghetto dance or simply ghetto.
His 2011 album, The Name, which had songs like ‘Fire Fire’, ‘Diana’, ‘The Name’, was a major hit on the streets.
