Actress and film producer Abimbola Craig has shared her reasons for remaining unmarried at the age of 38.
In a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Abimbola expressed her skepticism about the institution of marriage, describing it as “a scam.”
She critiqued the traditional roles often assigned to women in marriages, suggesting that they are frequently expected to manage the household and cater to their husbands’ needs.
The actress joked that the title “Mrs” could stand for “Master’s in Residential Servicing.”
However, she emphasised that her choice to stay single isn’t rooted in a rejection of marriage itself.
Instead, she is focused on finding a partner who possesses self-awareness and a clear sense of purpose.
“All marriage is a scam,” she said.
“When I was small, my mum always told me marriage is an institution. She said when they call you ‘Mrs,’ it stands for ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing.’
“I am not married, not because I do not want to be married, but if you are a man who does not know who he is, you cannot be with me.”
Best known for her role as Tiwalade in the popular web series Skinny Girl in Transit, Abimbola has also established herself behind the scenes, co-producing the 2019 box office hit Sugar Rush alongside Jade Osiberu.
Earlier this year, she opened up about a life-threatening experience following brain surgery in 2014.
Abimbola recalled the severe complications she faced, including nausea, insomnia, and significant weight loss, which left her fearing for her life.
