Presidential aspirant Peter Obi says he is not desperate to be president but only wants to see a prosperous Nigeria.
Mr Obi is among 15 candidates seeking the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election. The PDP will hold its presidential primaries on May 30.
The former governor of Anambra State spoke during an interview with BBC Pidgin.
“My lifelong ambition is to see a Nigeria that is prosperous. I am not desperate to become Nigerian president,” he said.
Obi noted that he was already a successful man before he entered politics.
“I don’t want to become president because of what I’ll gain. I want to become Nigerian president because of what I can offer,” he said.
“If it is money I want I will not leave over N70 billion in Anambra State account when I was leaving office. How many governors can do that?”
Obi said insecurity can be handled through creation of jobs, adding that he would also equip security agencies to do their work well.
