The family of late Yoruba actor Murphy Afolabi has said that the location for his burial which was initially Osogbo, Osun State was moved to Lagos because of the deceased’s children.
Family head of Fetuata, Afolabi’s family compound in Osogbo, Yusuf Lateef stated this in an interview with NAN on Monday.
“Initially we were planning to have him buried here in Osogbo but his children insisted that he should be buried in Lagos, where he resides with his family.
“As his family in Osogbo, we have been meeting and making plans concerning his burial and we will be sending representatives to Lagos this (Monday) morning,” he said.
Mr Lateef noted that Murphy’s death left everyone in the family heartbroken.
Murphy died on Sunday, May 14 after a fall in the bathroom at his Ikorodu home in Lagos.
Head of Osun branch of the Theater Acts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Murufudeen Lawal, who visited the bereaved family in Osogbo, said the death of the actor was a big loss to the Yoruba film industry.
He commiserated with the family, friends and fans of the actor, asking them to take solace in the fact that life is ephemeral and that everything that happens in life is according to the will of God.
