Actor and broadcaster Patrick Doyle has explained why he thinks the pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries Chris Okotie has not been vocal.
Mr Doyle told QEDNG publisher Olumide Iyanda in a recent interview that Okotie only speaks when he is mandated to do so.
“Pastor Chris is an enigma. He does what he wants to do when he wants to do it. He does things according to the leading of the spirit. When you used to hear him it was because he had the mandate then. If you don’t hear him it’s because he has not been given mandate to speak,” the actor, who is member of the church, said.
In the twilight of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, Okotie called for an interim government, abolishment of the legislature and presidential system of government.
“Pastor Chris is a fundamentalist in the truest sense of the word. The world regards fundamentalists as radical and loquacious. I’m a student of English. Fundamentalist means he’s fundamentally contented to doing the will of God as it reveals itself to him,” Doyle said.
The movie star also described Okotie as very articulate, smart and one who can make sense out of nonsense.
On his role as president of St Finbarr’s Old Students, Doyle said, “I’m enjoying that role. It’s more or less like my 9 to 5 now. I don’t get paid. When I say it’s my 9 to 5 it means I’m preoccupied with it and I’m seeing the result.”
Doyle said it is fulfilling to start a project and see it to fruition.
“I’ve never been one to put myself out there to lead but in this experiment with leadership I can see that I can lead and I’m not doing badly,” he said.
The Man of God actor said he plans to go into making content that will be of help to the young generation, noting that life has invested too much in him and he would like to share his knowledge and experiences.
“There are people who talk about everything. It seems that the trend now is people throw away inhibitions and just talk about everything. I’ve been inhibited. I just think it’s not modest to put your mouth into every single issue. So I want to carefully choose the issues where I will put my mouth and articulate in such a way that it will be impactful. So I’m trying to borrow a bit of narcissism, the good part, where I can suspend my inhibitions and positively communicate with this generation,” he concluded.
