The Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Ben Murray-Bruce, on Friday took a dig at President Muhammadu Buhari over the latter’s comment that his wife belongs in the kitchen.
Wife of the President, Aisha, caused controversy when she told the BBC Hausa Service that she would not support her husband’s re-election if he does not rejig his cabinet.
According to her, the government has been hijacked by people who did not contribute to the movement that brought Buhari to power.
“If things continue like this up to 2019,” Mrs. Buhari said, “I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.”
Laughing off his wife’s statement at a press briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Germany on Friday, Buhari said “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.”
He also said that he has much more political experience.
“So I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition, because in the end I have succeeded. It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.”
Not want to let an opportunity to stick a knife into the President pass him by, Murray-Bruce posted a picture of him and his wife on social media with the message “This is my beloved wife Evelyn. She belongs by my side because beside (not behind) great men are even greater women!”
The 60-year-old founder of the Silverbird Group is renowned for leading a leading a social media campaign against the Buhari administration, saying “I am Just making common sense”.
Of what interest is that to Nigerians? She can even be on ur head. Rubbish n nonsense.
