Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has extended his lead over his closest challenger, Biokpomabo Awara of African Alliance Congress (AAC).
Wike had maintained steady lead over Awara during collation of results from 15 local government areas on Tuesday by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Rivers governor had polled 426, 279 votes from 15 LGAs compared to Awara’s 129,855 votes.
On resumption of collation on Wednesday, Wike continued his lead with 601,423 votes after results from four LGAs were announced.
In Degema LGA, Wike polled 12,133 votes while Awara got 5,071.
In Asari-Toru LGA, the PDP candidate scored 32,172 votes while 18,945 votes went to Awara.
Wike swept his local government, Obio/Akpor, with 281,164 votes as against Awara’s 7,495 votes.
In Ogo/Bolo LGA, the governor also emerged victorious by polling 11,855 votes as the AAC candidate got 814.
Results from four LGAs are yet to be announced.
