Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has fired his commissioner for health Prof. Princewill Chike for solely approving the hosting of the conference of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria without due process.
Mr Wike announced Chike’s dismissal on Monday when officials of the council paid him a courtesy visit to speak with him about the conference scheduled to hold in PORT HARCOURT.
Wike said he only learnt about the conference through a text message from the commissioner while on a foreign trip soliciting the provision of logistics without prior information in private or during executive council meetings.
According to him, the poor execution of plan by Chike brought his administration to disrupt, coupled with the fact that the courtesy visit by the health body clashed with the state executive council’s approved date for the continuation of projects commissioning.
The governor, therefore, asked the commissioner to leave the meeting before attending to the officials of the council.
