Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said that he supports the reform of the Nigeria Police Force as a whole.
Mr Wike tweeted this on Tuesday after #EndSARS protesters took to the streets despite his proscription of the protest.
“It is not only ending SARS, every Nigerian should support the total reform of the Police,” he wrote.
“We shouldn’t make a mistake, If we #EndSars as they have done the same police people would be used to form another body. That is what I have always supported and called for.”
Protests have continued in several parts of the country despite the scrapping of the deadly Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The protesters are urging the government to reform the police, increase salaries of policemen, ensure the release of arrested protesters among others.
